The most profitable investments of 2023 (crowdlending)

The most profitable investments of 2023 (crowdlending)

The year 2023 has been a year of ups and downs for the financial markets and problems in some crowdlending projects. Inflation, the war in Ukraine and interest rates have caused significant volatility. However, despite this challenging context, some investments have managed to generate significant returns. But what have been the most profitable investments of 2023 within my portfolio?

This year I am not going to show all the data from my portfolio, because it seems that it is of no further interest. I didn’t do it last year and no one missed it. However, I find it enriching to share with my regular readers which investments have given me the most profitability this year.

Inversiones en crowdlending

As you already know, if you’ve been following my blog for a while, I really like cowdlending. It allows you to choose individual projects and play at being an investor and support companies that you especially like.

I usually consider not only the company’s ability to repay the loan, but also the type of business it has. If I don’t like the company’s activity, no matter how much it may be a profitable and reliable investment, I will not support it. On the other hand, if the company’s activity can contribute something interesting to society from my particular point of view, I will be able to take a little more risk and lend money to support the project.

What were the most profitable crowdlending investments of 2023?

Next, I am going to detail the profitability of the main crowdlending platforms in which I have invested throughout 2023. Some have 0 profitability, because there are no benefits until the project is closed and none have been closed in all of 2023, because the terms are longer than one year.

Below, I develop a brief explanation for each of the crowdlending platforms in which I have invested in 2023. We start with the platforms that have had the lowest profitability and we will end by looking at the crowdlending platforms that have represented the most profitable investments in 2023. All these returns are after taxes.

Urbanitae: real profitability

Once again, the profitability of my investments in Urbanitae is 0, because no project has yet been closed.

Yes, money has been returned, but only part of the capital of two projects that are a few months away from closing and, therefore, from reaping the benefits after two and a half years. To know the real profitability of Urbanitae, read this section of the blog. In it I detail the final profitability of the Urbanitae projects in which I have invested.

Ethichub: real profitability

Ethichub is a crowdlending platform focused on empowering unbanked coffee communities in Latin America. It uses cryptographic technology to improve economic returns and ensure the return of invested capital. It is likely that I will write more about this platform in the future. You can invest from €20 and you can do it not only with euros, but also with some cryptocurrencies. In addition, they have created their own cryptocurrency, through which they have generated a guarantee fund to return unpaid loans, which adds security to the process.

In 2023, my investments have had a return of 0%, because none of the loans I had open have been returned, because the established deadlines have not been met.

Soon I will discuss how to get benefits through the Ethichub affiliate or referral program.

Equito: real profitability

The profitability of Equito App is relatively low, because two or three months pass from the time the financing for the purchase of the apartments is closed, until the apartment is rented, after renovating and furnishing it. For this reason, the profitability of Equito App is lower, for now, than the platform indicates. However, I have to say that the platform’s forecasts are strictly fulfilled. And, therefore, the profitability will be very similar to that indicated by Equito App.

Ecrowd: real profitability

Ecrowd is a platform that has never had particularly high profitability. He always promised interest rates around 4.5%. That was considerably more than what the paid accounts were giving until 2022. Today, it is not that far from some paid accounts, which reach 3% or 4%. But, in addition, they have started to have payment problems in some projects that, until now, had gone perfectly. Furthermore, the number of available projects has greatly decreased and most are only available locally, making it very difficult to invest in them.

For these reasons, mainly the last one, I am currently withdrawing my funds from Ecrowd little by little. In fact, I have withdrawn 21% of the funds I had on the platform. Much to my regret, because it is a platform that I quite like. It is very simple to operate and I would not have had any significant problems with delays or non-payments. We will see what happens with the projects that accumulate delays and non-payments.

Mintos: real profitability

With Mintos I have had another problem. The moment I invested was just prior to a series of international conditions (beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, devaluation of the Turkish lira…), which has caused a good part of the capital I put into the platform, would be blocked.

Since the amount I have is not very large either, I have decided to reduce my exposure to countries I don’t know, so I stopped using Mintos autoinvest and I am withdrawing all the money as I have it available.

Evenfi: real profitability

Evenfi is the collective investment platform that has performed best among the most profitable investments of 2023 within my crowdlending portfolio. It is very simple, gives a lot of information and allows you to control each project very well. Furthermore, when there are delays or non-payments, it promptly reports what is happening and the progress in recovering the money. In 2023, surely due to the rise in interest rates and the slowdown in the economy that this has caused, mainly in Italy, payment problems have increased.

I have gone from a policy of increasing my capital strongly in Evenfi, to withdrawing it at the end of 2023. Now that interest rates seem to be stagnating and may begin to fall, I am waiting to see what happens and, if the economy rises again, mainly in Italy, I will invest heavily in this platform again. Currently, I only invest, small amounts in projects with B grades.

As you can see in the graph, the real net total profitability of the platform is higher than the other platforms. For this reason, it is my main investment growth objective as soon as the economy improves.
